Marley and Me
In June, while waiting for my plane at the Airport, I spotted a book, Marley and Me, it had a very adorable picture of a baby labrador on its cover. I wanted to get the book as I love dogs and also it would help me kill the hours I had to wait at the airport for my connecting flight but was told that the book was out of stock.
It was only a few days ago, I found the book staring at me at the bookstore and I knew I had to get it. The puppy, Marley, had such an adorable face which seems to say “Bring Me Home”.
I’ve picked up the book and read it the next day. I must say that it was a very heart-wrenching story of the life of a happy-go-lucky dog which lived life to the fullest without any cares in the world. Totally untrainable, destructive and seems to think that everything that is not bolted down is meant to be eaten. But one thing for sure, he was always there to greet the family at the door, comforting the family at their lowest point and ever so protective when encountering danger. He was a true friend, companion and part of the family.
I don’t normally cry when I read a book but this was the first time I sobbed when I read about Marley’s old age and subsequent death at age 14.
I definitely recommend this book for anyone who loves dogs. They are truly man’s best friend.
